Maynard Longarm Quilting

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about mailing your quilt to Maynard Longarm Quilting.

How long is the turnaround?
Standard turnaround is 2–4 weeks from the day your quilt top arrives at our shop. Rush service (1 week) is available for an additional 25% when our schedule allows — request rush on the quote form and we'll confirm before charging.
What's the difference between Edge-to-Edge, Semi-Custom, and Custom?
Edge-to-Edge ($0.02/sq in) — one continuous pantograph design quilted corner-to-corner. Fast, beautiful, affordable.

Semi-Custom ($0.03/sq in) — edge-to-edge with custom motifs in specific blocks or borders.

Custom Heirloom ($0.05/sq in) — block-by-block hand-guided quilting. Feathers, ruler work, custom fills. For show quilts and special pieces.
Do I need to send batting and backing, or can you provide them?
Either way. We stock 100% cotton, 80/20 cotton-poly, wool, and bamboo batting ($0.10/sq in) and 108" wide-back cotton ($14/yard). If you'd rather send your own, no extra charge — just make sure batting and backing are at least 6" larger than your quilt top on all sides.
How do I ship my quilt to you?
USPS Priority Mail medium flat-rate box ($18) fits most queen-size tops folded. For king and oversized, large flat-rate ($23). After you submit your quote, we email you the shipping address and a packing checklist. Add insurance for the value of your top — it's cheap and worth it.
When do I pay?
After your quilt is finished. We email an invoice through QuickBooks once Leo completes the work and we have final measurements. Pay by credit card, debit card, or ACH bank transfer through the invoice link. Your quilt ships back as soon as payment clears.
Do you bind quilts?
Yes. Carol machine-attaches your binding and hand-finishes the back ($0.20/linear inch) — the traditional, durable finish. Machine-only binding ($0.10/linear inch) is faster and still looks great for utility quilts.
Will you keep my preferences for repeat orders?
Yes. We save your shipping address, batting/thread preferences, and pantograph favorites so your next quote is a few clicks. Sign in to your customer account to see your full history.
Do you teach classes?
Yes — Carol teaches in-person, online, and one-on-one sewing classes from our class studio in Bird-in-Hand, PA. Beginner through advanced. See the classes page for the current schedule and online booking.
What if my quilt has a problem (bunched seam, wavy border, etc.)?
Leo will text or call you before quilting if there's anything that needs your decision — a major fullness issue, a top that's significantly out of square, or pieced seams that may not handle the longarm well. Nothing gets quilted without your okay.
Do you work on T-shirt quilts and memory quilts?
Absolutely — these are some of our favorite projects. Browse the portfolio for examples. We recommend Edge-to-Edge with cotton batting for T-shirt quilts and a basic loop or meandering pantograph that won't fight the printed designs.

Still have a question?

Carol picks up the phone. Leo answers email. No bots, no offshore call center.
